1. ANY PERSON shall be entitled to compete for any and all premiums offered (except where otherwise specified).



2. GENERAL ADMISSION is $12.00 a single admission ticket admitting one to the grounds. Children 10 and under admitted FREE. Life members’ pass of admission to the grounds is good for admission all four days.


3. ENTRIES - All livestock entries MUST be on the grounds by 8:00 PM on Thursday, unless specified differently in the Premium Book for a given department. All pre-registration forms MUST be received by mail by August 15, 2009.   No entries will be accepted if not pre-registered. NO PHONE ENTRIES.


A BIRTH CERTIFICATE OR PROOF OF AGE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL YOUTHS ENTERING LIVESTOCK DEPARTMENTS.

NOTICE:
NO item(s) on display or placed in competition will be removed before 7:00 pm Monday evening. If unable to remove items Monday evening, items will be available Tuesday, the day after the Fair, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Security Personnel will be present during the entire removal period.
NO VEHICLES will be permitted on the grounds before 9:00 PM Monday evening. NO EXCEPTIONS. Any entries NOT REMOVED by 7:00 PM on Tuesday will become the property of the Woodstock Fair and will be disposed of accordingly.

4. Reasonable supervision will be provided by the Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. in the safe keeping of animals, exhibits and/or any other type of property. The Society shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or death that may occur to animals, exhibits and/or property for any reason. Exhibitors, contestants, participants and/or the public agree to be solely responsible for any loss, injury to, damage done, occasioned by or arising from any exhibit, equipment, animal or person and shall defend and indemnify the Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc., its agents and employees thereof against and from all claims and liability. 
The Woodstock Agricultural Society, Inc. reserves the right to restrict, prohibit or eject any exhibitor, contestant and/or participant, which at the sole discretion of the Society, detracts from or interferes with the character of the Fair, or which may be objectionable or offensive, in management’s sole discretion, to other exhibitors, contestants, and/or patrons. This shall include, but is not limited to, conduct of persons, signage or printed material on any of the grounds owned or controlled by the Society. In the event of ejection there shall be no refund of ticket admission price, entry fee or rental fee of any nature.
 
 
STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES WILL BE REQUIRED OF ALL PARTICIPANTS.
 
 
USE OF THE WOODSTOCK FAIR NAME, LOGO AND SLOGANS
The use, for any purpose or in any way, of the name; the Annual Woodstock Fair, The Woodstock Fair, the Woodstock Fair logo, or Woodstock Fair slogans is strictly prohibited without a written agreement authorized by either the Executive Committee or the Board of Directors of the Woodstock Agricultural Society, and signed by the Society President. The Woodstock Fair or the Woodstock Agricultural Society does not endorse any commercial product, service or enterprise. No officer, superintendent or director can, in carrying out their responsibilities, let it.
 
AS TO EXHIBITORS
5. All animals and articles MUST be owned by exhibitors at the time of the Fair.


6.   All grain, fruits, vegetables and flowers MUST have been grown by exhibitors.


7. No livestock will be allowed to run at large on the fairgrounds.


8. No entries can be entered to compete for more than one premium unless otherwise specified.


9. All exhibitors of animals and their help are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times.


10. Judges appointed to the various classes are earnestly desired to accept their duties, but if unable to do so, are asked to notify the Superintendent promptly. If Judges do not report by specified times on the day they are to serve, their places will be counted vacant and the Department Superintendent shall appoint new judges.


11. All exhibitors of livestock or their agents are required to bring their livestock into the ring to be judged when called for by the Superintendent. Those failing to comply will be barred from competition.


12. Animals are allowed to be exhibited both in herd and as individuals. NO HORNED CATTLE ALLOWED.


13. Judges are requested to withhold or reduce premiums if animals or articles have less than ordinary merit. No gratuity shall exceed the lowest premium in any class. In case of error in award by judges, a protest or appeal to be entertained MUST be lodged with the Secretary at the time of the Fair and brought before the Executive Committee at its next meeting.


14. No article except livestock, having once taken any premiums from the Society, may compete for same again.


15. Any Judge owning, or having an interest in any animal or article competing for award, becomes ineligible thereby to serve in the class concerned and is to withdraw. If for any reason it is improper for any Judge to serve, the Department Superintendent shall declare the place vacant and appoint a new Judge.


16. Anyone interfering by letter or otherwise, with the Judges, during their examinations, will be excluded from competition. At the Judge’s request, exhibitors are to make verbal or written statements about their contributions.


17. When Judges have made decisions, the Superintendents will see that awards are properly distributed. FIRST Premium, BLUE; SECOND Premium, RED; THIRD Premium, WHITE or YELLOW. ALL JUDGING RESULTS ARE FINAL.


18. Judges are requested to sign their affidavits and to return their sheets to the Superintendents as soon as possible, after decisions have been made. Judging sheets may be inspected after 4:30 PM Monday.


19. All premium money will be paid from JUDGING SHEETS and NOT from any ribbons that may be attached to the exhibits. PREMIUMS will be paid by mail before September 30, 2009. Any questions about premiums MUST be made before October 30, 2009.


20. Checks for premiums MUST be cashed before November 30, 2009, or such premiums will be donated to the Society.
 
AS TO SUPERINTENDENTS
21. Superintendents of Departments are requested to be present on the fairgrounds at 9:00 AM on Wednesday or Thursday, RECEIVING DAYS, to see that articles and animals, exhibits and concessions are placed in their proper locations and to attend each day of the Fair during operating hours of the Fair and shall be available for assistance at any time during the Fair. Superintendents will promote the interest of the exhibition. They will be responsible to the President for the proper management of their own departments. They will fill any vacancy in the judges of their own departments, but not themselves act as judges therein. They will receive and inspect judges’ reports in their departments and promptly return sheets to the Superintendent of Entries. If obliged to be absent at any time, they will appoint a substitute and notify the President.


22. All records of all departments shall be made available to incoming Department Superintendents to insure continuity in the running of the department.

SECURITY: Safety and Security are the most important goals of our Fair. The Rules and Regulations are for the benefit of everyone. Fair Security will begin 24 hours per day on the Tuesday prior to the Fair and continue until 12:00 (noon) the Tuesday after the Fair. All bodily injuries, property damage, thefts or vandalism should be reported immediately to the Supervisor of Security, or to the Security or Secretary's Offices. Any security inquiries should be addressed to the Supervisor of Security , Joseph Johnson.
 
LIFE MEMBERSHIP IN THE SOCIETY:
“Any person of good standing, favorably voted upon at a Monthly Meeting, and who shall have paid the membership fee of $300.00 into the Treasury as an admission fee which entitles each to a certificate of life membership.” You may request an application from the Woodstock Agricultural Society Secretary, P.O. Box 1, South Woodstock, CT, 06267. Memberships are individual only, available anytime during the year.

2. NO GATE TICKETS will be issued with your receipt because NO PRE-REGISTRATION FEES are charged.


3. THERE ARE NO BOARDING FEES FOR ANIMALS.

4. All entries MUST be PRE-REGISTERED by Saturday August 15, 2009.
